A somewhat time-bound phenomenon occurred during the 1960s and 1970s when many magazines such as Spirou and Pilote published short comics that set out to introduce their young readers to the “real” life of d’Artagnan. Needless to say, the historical accuracy of these efforts was sometimes questionable, as illustrated by a purely imaginary “extraordinary meeting” between d’Artagnan and Cyrano during the siege of Arras.
